    Greetings

LG announced last month that they were canceling the Blu ray player and proceeding with a universal design.

Don't know what this player info means ....

    regards

Unless it's an echo from the past, certainly confirms that due to the licensing issue, LG couldn't overcome it and appears to have backtracked to BD. One month before Sony and everyone else is not a bad thing either, if it proves to be accurate.

No...they said they were "considering" making a universal player....and it got exaggerated by different sites take on it is all.

Unfortunately... it takes two to tango

Also...that first BD player was a different model number than this one.

Has $1,300 been the expected price all along? I thought a $1,000 price was what we would see from LG. I sure don't expect a universal player anytime soon.

the prices on that site are in Canadian dollars. Did Goldstar ever charge close to $1000 for anything it made? (LG used to be Goldstar...just found that out the other day)

26th June seems to be the planned date for the big BD launch, with Sony, Samsung and possibly LG all launching players on that day. Sony have also pushed back their movie releases until just a week before this launch window.

Hah. Don't be too relieved : the $CDN hit US$0.90 yesterday for the first time since the middle '70s [there was a short period, when Nixon was dropping the gold parity of the dollar, that the difference actually wne the other way].
