I have just tonight purchased the LG upconverting player with a July 04 build date. I have flashed the firmware and am connected to my Toshiba 51H84 HDTV using component cables.

Everything seems fine except one then. The theaterwide picture settings are not allowing me to slect "FULL" mode. Any time previous (with my former progscan player, some JVC model) if I put an Anamorphic dvd in and set the TV to Full, it played proper at what ever aspect ratio the movie was filmed in. If I set to "Natural" which is more of a 4:3 setting with grey bars on the side it whould take the 16:9 image and squish it between the grey bars fill the 4:3 image.

But now, with this new upconverting player "Full" mode is now not available, and "Natual" mode shows the image in a 16:9 setting without any grey bars.

PLease someone tell me this is right?

I found the answer to my question.

When the 51H84 is fed a high def signal, it does not allow for any manipulation of the aspect ratio.

It will automatically set itself to "natural" and "full" is take away.
