I'm thinking of making the jump to SVS after all the great things said about them here, but here is my question. Should I run the LFE cable 30 feet from the receiver back to the amp or the speaker wire 30 feet from the amp back to the subs? Which option will give me the purist signal? Put aside the $$$ value of each option. I just want the best sound.

And yes, DVD-Audio does sound better.

We had a long post a few months back on this same issue. The conclusion was that it was better for the sound to have a long interconnect and short runs of speaker wires.
So this means a long coaxial cable to the sub position, and a mono-block amp with short speaker wires to the sub.
Or you can by-pass the entire issue and get one of the powered-cylinder units from SVS. The German-built amp in these things are very nice (I have one in case you did not guess :) ).
