Bernard Farber's Frequently Asked Questions about Letterboxing (LETTERSHLOCKING) is no longer available. I wonder if he took it down on purpose, of if he canceled his internet account. I am hoping for the latter, because he doesn't deserve to be able to use the internet. You can still get to the page if you want to poke fun at it by going to the wayback machine.

I'm fairly sure that it was one big long-running joke. Venomous replies like that just play right into it.

I think many believe he was serius, based on his posts at some newsgroups in the early life of the DVD format.

Yeah, there's tons of posts in newsgroups that are just like his website.

Either he was doing an elaborate Andy Kaufman joke (as someone speculated in one thread) or he's serious. I guess we'll never know.

I think the site was a joke.

I once e-mailed him pretending to be in support of his views and never, ever got a reply from him.

The entire site seemed as if it was written by a teenager with nothing better to do or just to piss some people off.

Maybe he got pissed and yanked the site because he finally saw the light and saw that DVD was a success, HDTV is gaining and DIVX (Which I believe he supported) eventually died a deserving death.

I guess we will never know if he was actually serious and believed in his views or was just pulling our chains.

That site is hillarious. It is painfully obvious that the owner of that site hated divX.

Wow. That site has been up for years.

Can't believe it is down now.

I emailed the bastard once citing specific examples using Star Wars OAR vs its Pan and Scam version.

His response "We are not interested in debating you"

I wasn't in it for a debate, was simply trying to educate the proper way as it is shown in theaters and the like. And he never mentioned who this "we" were.
