Is it possible to watch the movies without the guys comments?
Jens, I own Collection #1, so I can verify that it was possible with that one (and incorporated that info here by mentioning "Non-MST3K Versions of the Films"). But I never saw online where #2 or #3 had that capability...noone seems to be saying! And I haven't found #2 in any store yet, strangely enough...might have to order it.
While you can on collection 1, you cannot watch un-MSTed versions of the film on collection 2. I'm still waiting for collection 3 (Amazon posted it mid-last week)
And here's a better look at the box (front and back) from http://shop.clickandcarry.com/
Collection #3 does not let you watch the movie by itself. Which is fine by me. I only bought these disks for the MST3K version anyway. The outer box is rather neat in that spaceship door panel on the front of the box lifts up so you can see the door behind it. And that door lifts up. And so on, until you get to the 5th door. Cool idea. I hope that they release box sets with the episodes that they put out in single disk boxes. For example: Collection 4: The Beginning Of The End The Brain That Wouldn't Die Mitchell I Accuse My Parents Collection 5: Manos: The Hands Of Fate The Crawling Hand Wild World Of Batwoman Red Zone Cuba Collection 6: Hellcats Eegah The Gunslinger or Poopie Shorts Volume 3
(shrugs) I'd rather have episodes new to home video. I also have those already.
Poopie is included as an extra on the Manos DVD. It wouldn't be fair to those with the single-disc editions to have to re-buy the boxes. As much as I love the Manos and Eegah episodes, I doubt I want to buy them again!
As one who owns many of the single disc versions, I must agree. Keep the new episodes coming. No repackaged sets.
I too wish they would release some new titles. Im sure the likelyhood of seeing my favorite episodes released to DVD are slim, but I can dream. Last of The Wild Horses Starfighters Rocketship X-M Space Mutiny The Sword and The Dragon Escape 2000 The Killer Shrews
I totally agree about Space Mutiny. That final chase sequence (if you can call it that) in the end was brilliant. Another film I think should be put on DVD, and this is from the Sci Fi era, is Jack Frost (title has nothing to do with actual content of film), Secret Agent Super Dragon, and Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell. I can't wait for Rhino to start releasing the Sci Fi stuff.
I say we email Rhino and ask for info. Somebody more enterprising than me is going to have to find the email address though.
Does anyone know where the best deals are for these sets?
DeepDiscountDVD has almost all of the standalome episodes for 11.94, and all 3 sets are under $40, with set three being ~$36.
Right on, thanks. I'm willing to pay under 40 bucks for these sets, but Best Buy's $49.99 seems a bit steep.
Amazon.com has em for 44.99, that's were I order them from. Shipping is another 5 bucks, but that's to Canada, so it's probably a lot cheaper in the States.
If you're willing to take a chance... fye.com has it for $19.96. Of course, I don't have it in my hands yet, so take it with a grain of salt. But hey, it's less than twenty bucks! Aaron Thomas ... or perhaps take a whole lick of salt...
I'm giving the FYE deal a shot. We'll see how much I get charged or if I even receive it. ~~Nathan
whoa! Ill chance that. Thanks for the tip Aaron. We'll see what happens.
