I was just seeing if any of you could post a link to your list of movies that you've rated, and their ratings at IMDb. I think this would be very intersting to see.
Here's a link to mine. Link Removed I haven't rated very many yet. I have only really gone through IMDb top 250 and rated the ones I had seen, plus a few others.
Thanks in advance for the participation.

Well, when I went to your movies, I got a list of MY movies. Oh well. I'll copy and paste mine instead. I only bother rating those that deserve a high high rating. Plus, I only get around to voting for them when I watch the movie while I happen to be on the computer.

Ditto, what Mike said and as I have rated over 3,000 films so far (I'm not even done yet) I think I will save Ron & Parker a major headache by NOT cut and pasting by IMDB Ratings :D

Well nevermind this i guess. It is too much of a pain for y'all to have to cut and paste. Sorry. I can't figure out how to make it work. Oh well.

The only way this would work is if you logged in to IMDb as someone else. You could see my Vote History is you were logged in as me...but we all know that's not gonna happen!

A better question might be "How many movies are in your IMDb Vote History?"

Brian/All,

When I cite something from IMDB someone invariably says that who can believe the opinion of those users or a related kind of comment.

After seeing some of these ratings, I guess I understand how they could think that. Brian I doubt that you really think that Psycho (1998)is on the same awful level as Battlefield Earth. My guess it that you really like the original Psycho and your score of 1 is just some punishment metered out to that film as retribution for them remaking it. Right? I also notice scores for remakes of The Shining and God Created Woman.

While I understand this kind of thing, I hope that people avoid the urge to do this. For example, when people went crazy about Crouching Tiger and I saw that it was getting scores that would put it in the top 10 for all time (at one point) I felt like giving it a low score just to bring it down to reality level. However, I gave it a fair score.

So what' the point? If we all see this stuff going on and start giving 10's to films we like and 1's to those we have some problem with the whole IMDB rating system becomes virtually worthless and the true great or lousy films become harder to figure out.

I'm wrong? Take a look at Titantic - a movie that bugs the hell out of many people based on info from forums like this). Below is the ratings by number from IMDB.

Votes Percent Rating

17140 31.0% 10

6746 12.2% 9

7019 12.7% 8

6244 11.3% 7

4178 7.6% 6

3001 5.4% 5

1925 3.5% 4

1696 3.1% 3

1459 2.6% 2

5884 10.6% 1

Notice that the percentages work their way down all the way to the worst rating and then go up to over 10 percent? Please...

Likewise Psycho (1998)

Votes Percentage Rating

238 6.4% 10

187 5.0% 9

381 10.3% 8

522 14.1% 7

597 16.1% 6

470 12.7% 5

315 8.5% 4

273 7.4% 3

209 5.6% 2

522 14.1% 1

I notice that you rated American Pie 2 a 1 and Donny G gave it a 10. I doubt that either one of you believes it belongs in The Godfather or Battlefield Earth territory. Well you both cancelled each other out.

Here is my list. You won't find many movies with a rating below 7 because I am seldom able to finish a movie I do not like and don't want to waste my time with voting for them. And yeah, I didn't like Scarface and Godfather. I respect both movies for their technical brilliance and great acting but as a movie watcher I was not able to enjoy them. Actually I always thought the out of 10 rating was crap really, too many numbers, who's gonna give a film a 6 or a 7 rating? Are you being accurate or just randomly picking a number between 5-9, I think a more accurate rating would be out of 4 or even better out of 5, that way you can say...

1=Poor

2=Average

3=Good

4=Very Good

5=Excellent

Much better IMO and more accurately expressing your rating for a particular film.

Erm sorry about digressing, carry on...

I am not one who gives out 10 or 1 ratings on a knee jerk reaction. What you see there is a list of all 84 films that I rated a mere 1. Each and every one of those films deserves it's paltry 1 rating.
84 films out of over 3,200 films rated, thats only about 2.5% of the films I saw getting the big rasberry. And I have only rated about 50 films a full 10, the most recent being Three Colors Red from 1994.
So please don't make assumptions based on limited your information about me or any of the other people who posted in this thread.
Oh and one more thing, I most certianly do feel that American Pie belongs right next to Battlefield Earth. And the Shining (mini-series), Well anyone who knows me will tell you that I have only referred to that flick as the single most god-awful lump of moviemaking Feces, about 20 times on this forum in the last 4 years.

I must admit, I'm shocked that anyone would take the time to post 3,200 film ratings on IMDB. Based on that information as well as the number of 10's and 1's you've given - I would agree that they are statistical insignificant - and not ballot stuffing attempts.
As far as assumptions go people make them all the time. For example, I'm assuming that you meant American Pie 2 in your reply versus American Pie. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
You didn't mention anything about the movie that was the key point I was making about your film list. That being Psycho (1998). I'm sure there are others besides myself that would be interested to know how you score(d) Psycho (original).
Thanks for the Napoleon alert.

Steve, I would like to comment on rating systems... :)
I think a more accurate rating would be out of 4 or even better out of 5, that way you can say...
1=Poor
2=Average
3=Good
4=Very Good
5=Excellent
I agree with you that this system is also very good, and I use a 5 point system IF I think the 10 point system is too broad. In that case, my 5 point rating would go like this:
1=Very poor
2=Not good
3=Average
4=Good/Brilliant
5=Excellent/Perfect
For instance, if I were to rate video or sound quality on a DVD I would definitely us a 5 point system, because I don't think I would qualify to destinguish between 10 different levels of quality (and if in doubt I could always give a "half" score, in that case the system is identical to the 10 point system).

That may be true, but when you take into account that the majority of imdb voters are doing the same, it's all relative. In other words so what if Godfather gets a 10 or a 6...it will tend to stay higher ranked than the other films. When I see that a combined film was rated at about a 6.8-7.1, that equates to a solid movie. 7.1-7.6 is a fantastic film. 7.7-8.2 equals unforgettable films, and 8.3+ equals masterpiece.
