The pre-order link in the article takes you to Amazon. Their prices are somewhat less than the list prices.

    Seriously, this should be good.

I would love some hi-rez Zeppelin however. [IMG]

Looks good to me, but I too would like to see Zeppelin on DVD-Audio. It's time for Warner Strategic Marketing to exercise some strategery. [IMG]

Wow! I'm counting the days now...

As an owner of their entire collection and a few bootlegs I'm sure this will really shine.

[IMG] May 27th is now looking like it's a year away! I cannot, cannot, CANNOI wait for this! And for the reasonable prices they are asking, I may buy several sets - Zep makes great holiday gifts to those you love! [IMG]

I also think they should release that preview/trailer to theaters. Oh man I know I'd go bonkers!

Last night I heard "The Ocean" on the local radio station off the HtWWW cd. If that is typical of the sound I'm counting the days until May 27 (like I wasn't anyway). It is amazing. What I found most remarkable just listening to the FM station was how BIG John Bonhams drums sound - especially the bass drum. That song has quite a few layers on the studio album and just the bass/drums/gtr and vocals sound stripped down but still very good...

I decided to dig this up to say that I watched disc one and thought it was awesome. I went for the DTS option first just to try it out. Sounded pretty darn good to me.

I think the performance at Albert Hall is a better concert than what you get with Song Remains the Same. They just seem fresher and more vibrant at this point in their career.

If disc 2 is anything like disc 1, holy shit! [IMG]

I also thought the footage for Albert Hall looked better than Song Remains the Same stuff, though it just might be how the DVDs were done. Perhaps Song could be much better if it was given a stronger treatment. As of now though, I would recommend "DVD" 5 times more than Song Remains to someone who had neither.

Seth, I think in some interview (it might even be in the box set inserts) Page mentions how the Madison Square footage was nearly in ribbons. I think the DVD for TSRTS was clearly taken from the video master used for the LD, or older!

Anyway, it's a shame that technology didn't exist back then like it does now, to capture Zep live. I'd trade in all these Britney documentaries, Justin/Christina live feeds, for just one complete, well recorded (video/audio) concert of Zep. I understand they used to play for 3+ hours straight. These DVDs are great but are taken from many sources. I would love to have one full 3-hour complete concert experience with the band.

Still, [IMG][IMG] for the DVDs (and CDs)

OK, I'll go along with this. This thread was started first and had a better topic header. But, the DVD is being discussed in software, can we focus on the CDs here?

Jimmy Page in going to be interviewed on Fresh Air on Monday. If you're famiiar with Terry Gross' program on Public Radio I won't have to say anymore.
If you're not (and shame on you) Terry has a 55 minute interview program every weekday. She is particularly sharp when it comes to musicians, this will be worth tuning in.
I'm lucky, I get to hear her show at 11AM out of San Antonio and again at 3PM from Austin. Check your local listings.

Fine with me, Jim- I was able to get the CDs (at $16.99!) but my local stores all sold out of the DVDs.

The performances sound really hot and the sonics are great. I was never a big fan of the 4-hour versions of Dazed and Confused, but this one is relatively enjoyable. I love they way they use the riff of Out on the Tiles as an intro for Black Dog. Beautiful renditions of That's the Way and Since I've Been Lovin' You are welcome additions to my music library.

Can't wait to see and hear the DVDs... eventually.

    Seth

The most amazing part of the shows to me was the acoustic Earl's Court set. Going to California, That's the Way and
Bron Y Aur. The camera work is detailed and up close.
I didn't expect that part to be my favorite. My favorite
    album is LZII.

I also thought it was interesting the side looks that Page
and Jones give each other trying to cue each other what is
going to happen next in a lot of the RAH stuff. I'm still
working my way through the bonus stuff. I'd always wanted
a copy of the Danish TV special and Supershow.

The only song I really liked on the TSRTS part was The Ocean. I had heard Since I've been Loving You and Black
    Dog

As a collector of a few bootlegs, I'd say that the performance and quality are right up there.
