I am looking for a stop gap replacment for a Receiver. I want to move up to S-Video connections, but my current Receiver does nto handle S-Video. All I am looking for is a basic level receiver that can take 5.1 inputs. It does not need to have any DD or DTS native. The cheaper the better since I plan on replacing it within a year with a REAL setup (hopefully going separate then!)

Any suggestions of where to look and what to look for? Thanks!

If it's a stop gap you want, there are tons of models available, new, remanufactured, refurbished, whatever. JVC, Sony, Pioneer are everywhere on the web. Just do a search. If you want higher quality, that's out there too. It's really a fielder's choice.

Just decide what you'd like to spend and then find several models in the ballpark. Do a cross-check of specs and inputs-outputs...then come back here and give a shout. Somebody will pipe up with opinions.
