I've never leased a car before. Is putting a trailer hitch on a leased vehicle allowed ? If so, would it need to be removed before turning the car back in ?

I will give you an unqualified answer.

I have leased for most of my life.

Trailer hitches come as part of a package for crossovers and SUVs. I had one on my Lincoln MKX a few years ago that I never needed and it was part of a vehicle package they had on the lot.

For that reason, if you don't get it as part of the lease deal you should be able to add it yourself.

As long as it doesn't do any damage to the vehicle and you remove it upon trade-in (or they may just let you turn it in with it included) I don't see what the issue would be.

This is certainly a question that the dealer could answer for you.

Thanks. I will be doing some research as I will probably be replacing my 2003 vehicle this year.
