Kevin, I'm guessing there must be thousands of them. I have at least 100 in my TV room, and there are many more that I wish I had. I recently came across a store in Flushing, Queens that had a very large LD rental inventory, and I was amazed once again at the volume of sheer junk -- as well as the numerous jewels -- that was issued in this format.

Thanks for the titles! I'm new to the LD scene, and my LD collection currently consists of the three trilogies (BTTF, SW, IJ) and the Beatles Anthology. I'm looking to expand a bit before they disappear forever, and these lists are very helpful[IMG]

Don't forget "Clash of the titans" and "Casper". Casper DTS is one of the greatest soundtracks I have ever heard.

    IanS...

Sorry, for most practical purposes, Canada's release of Giant doesn't count. It still hasn't been release in the US.

if it's NTSC R1 it should count. You can order it and it will play.

One thing I'd love to see on DVD (with LPCM audio) is Spike Lee's "Do it Accepello" (sp) which is a GREAT music laserdisc.

Also, I don't consider Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to be "available" on DVD as it's P/S crapola...where as we have a nice 2.35:1 WS transfer on laserdisc.

    Please MGM PLEASE!

There are just too many to mention. Thousands, definitely. And different ones are important to different people.
And much of what is on DVD just doesn't cut it.
Give me the Sinbad discs with the extra top and bottom footage (16:9 is NOT what Harryhausen wanted for these films, and it shows) plus the lovely stereo soundtracks by Joe Caps (and the original soundtrack, of course).
Give me all my Criterion supplements and commentaries.
Give me all my strange imported television shows.
Give me Song of the South and Best of Roger Rabbit.
Give me all my music video titles (I guarantee you that most music video and concert releases on laserdisc will never be released on DVD).
Give me oh so much more.
I may not have a $3,000 pre/pro, but I am FAR too serious about this hobby to not have a laserdisc player. Those 'HT' buffs that sold their entire gigantic LD collections to jumpstart their DVD collections are not true 'film' buffs or 'music' buffs.
