Are there any sites around still selling DIY RF mod kits for Laserdisk players?
I also need a RF demodulator? Where can I buy one online? Or does someone here have one they would sell me?
The player I am wanting to mod is an old Pioneer CLD-1090 that is basically new (was in storage for years)...
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Brad

Precision is the place I remember with the DIY RF upgrade kits. They also announced that they would be selling a demodulator, but I never heard anything else.
I don't think anybody is selling demodulators new anymore, but if you keep your eyes open on this forum, AVS Forum, Digital Theater, Augiogon, etc., you should find something.
    Good luck.

You can always find demodulators on EBay. I did.
    165.00 for the Yamaha ADP-1.

    Randy:
I noticed that your schematic is much simpler than others I have seen (no mute circuit) (no capacitor), etc. What effect would this have over one of the other schematics with these items?
I think I will make my own since the cost for the upgrades from other companies is rediculous...
I also found this site http://www.mnns.com/~ka0ywn/laserdisc.html
    And for my player: http://kahuna.sdsu.edu/~tucker/diyau.../ac3rfmod.html
    Schematic: http://kahuna.sdsu.edu/~tucker/diyau...d/ac3sche5.GIF
    Or:
    with MUTE circuit: http://www.laaudiofile.com/images/ac3cir1.gif
One thing I don't understand is on the schematic you see the arrors ---> that have nothing written by them... Where do they go?
Also, some people mention connecting the RF cable shieding to something.. but I am not sure whether you do? or where you connect it? Do you just connect the center lead only?
Anyway... Thanks so much for your time!

Brad, for details on the way we did it, I suggest you e-mail Randy at [email protected], he'll be glad to help.
As for the mute and other stuff, we tried without it, and it worked just fine, no excess noise or anything. I'm very happy with it, in conjuction with my Yamaha RX-V1 it works perfectly. I also had it hooked up to a Yamaha demodulator and RX-V2092, and a DSP-A3090, never a problem.

I took a look at the schematic and I don't see any unlabeled arrows. With ours there are only four wires connected to the motherboard. The AC3-RF out is simply an RCA jack. I have some pics somewhere of the player after it was completed, although I don't think it will show you much.
