Okay, I especially want to hear from those of you who are the laser fanatics from back in the days before DVD...
What are some of the "firsts" for laser and DVD? What features or titles brought something new to the viewer or raised the bar for future releases?
Interestingly enough, a "first" I looked into recently wasn't on traditional laserdisc at all. According to http://www.cedmagic.com, the first completely letterboxed title released was Fellini's Amarcord on RCA CED videodisc in January 1984.
I'm interested in how we got from there to here, so please mention anything you consider worthwhile.

M*A*S*H was the first movie to be released to video, I think.
