I'm curious if any PC gamer out there has an LCD monitor. I think I read that they aren't that good for gaming but I'm interested in getting one for the small footprint on my desk.

lcd monitors aren't ideal because of the shadow effect (forgot the proper term for it). if u're playing RTS or RPGs it'll be ok. just don't try it with first person shooters

It's doable if you *must* save space. I have to use one for this reason but I still compete very well in FPS's. Though I know I would do a tad better if I were using a CRT, plus it would be more enjoyable.

Look for one that sports a 16-20ms response time and see how you like it.

I don't know what the problem is with LCD monitors but I have no problems with FPS. Can you guys explain more on why you would be better with a CRT. I just don't get the problem with LCD.

An A/B comparison between the two is the best way to see what you're missing. Try the UT2k4 demo, it's pretty revealing.
