Hello,

In talking with a salesperson about LCD screens,
he mentioned that "heat cracks" were a major reason
why people bought "extended warranties" for their
LCD screens.

The LCD screens do get rather warm at times but
is stress from heat a major/minor concern?

If a product, if an LCD panel, is cracking from heat stess it shouldn't be released to the market. Sounds dangerous. I think the salesperson is trying to meet his quota for getting patrons to purchase the extended warranty.

Yeah i think what he is refering to is when people lose the monitor due to thermal shock. ie the lcd screen is in your car you bring it in unpack it and turn it on, CRACK welcome to the world of thermal shock. just make sure its at ambient temperature before you turn it on and it should be fine. Most materials will melt or char/oxidize not crack from the ehar. plastics and glass will not crack from getting too hot.

Is the smoke rolling out your ears yet cause he is clearly blowing it up your ass?
I've heard some pretty good lines before to get people to buy warranties, look into what they say before you feed into there crap.
