I totally forgot about that MGM 3-fer. I own a copy of that, too, and it's normally the copy I watch *when* I watch it. I'm really not that fond of any of the 3 films in that set so it doesn't come out every year (and why I forgot about it).

This is the version I own (different case - or could be a slipcase - not sure as it's packed away at the moment). The current least expensive used copy is from Decluttr. I've used them quite a lot in the past and they usually have decent copies (they call *everything* "very good" whether it is or not though). Next cheapest is from HPB-Movies, another MP vendor I've used with consistently good results.
the 3 disc holiday film set uses the eastman house print of march the black and white print that wpix is now showing again the print on the bishop's wife is the wonderful print issued by goldwyn then mgm too

My two copies arrived today. I’m comparing the contents, looks like I can compare a few of the shorts in the DVD set to the new blu ray set.

Next up to collect is March of the Wooden Soldiers and Flying Deuces. Then the Year One set.

I'm not generally a fan of "commentary" tracks. More often than not I find the information imparted would work better as an essay.
Commentaries can be informative, as when they point out this piece of music is playing, who wrote it, and it's also heard in these various other shorts. The music is referenced quite a few times in these commentaries. However, unlike most commentaries, the ones I've heard from this set don't allow any of the film's sound in behind the commentary. So when they tell you the name of the tune 'you are hearing' you're not hearing it at all.
