This will probably go unreported by mainstream media, but I feel this gentleman's contributions are worthy of mention....

John "Jack" McCabe, who wrote the first major biography of Laurel and Hardy and subsequently wrote two other books spotlighting each man separately, passed away yesterday at age 85. Mr. McCabe, who had a particularly good relationship with Stan Laurel, was instrumental in the formation of the L&H society "Sons of the Desert".

He also wrote well received biographies of James Cagney, George M. Cohan, and Charlie Chaplin.

In later life, he married Rosina Lawrence, an actress who appeared in various Hal Roach productions, including the classic "Way Out West".

Mr. McCabe resided in Mackinac Island, Michigan. God bless his soul.
