Just got this email from amazon.ca:

We're sorry to report the release of the following item has
been cancelled:

Wes Craven (Director), et al "Last House on the Left
[WS]"

Although we'd expected to be able to send this item to you, we've since
found it won't be released after all. Please accept our sincerest
apologies for any inconvenience we've caused you.

We've cancelled this item from your order.

Anyone have any idea why or what happened?

Odd. The disc has already been reviewed by DVD Savant. Could it be some kind of rights issue with the Canadian release??

I'm pretty sure dOc has a review copy already too, so it is coming out.

This is Canada, so it's probably being released by Alliance Atlantis so they can Frenchize the cover or something, who knows... heh.

Actually, very few MGM titles are released late in Canada, but I do remember Mannequin was released late.. in fact, I'm not sure it's even in Canada yet? So they may have pulled it from Canada shelves?

Not nearly as much as the States. I don't think that's the problem.

Another thread reported the same thing about the Pulp Fiction SE being "cancelled"

Maybe Amazon.ca isn't quite running up to speed yet?

Well, then, I'm just gonna order it from a "Canada-friendly" US etailer, just like I'm gonna have to do for Pulp and Jackie Brown. Stupid country. Stupid MGM. Stupid dual languages on DVD cases.

Is Last House On The Left actually banned in Canada? I was under the impression that movies could only be banned by individual provinces (for instance, 5 years ago Pink Flamingos was banned in Nova Scotia, but not in Ontario). In any case, I was looking forward to this DVD and am annoyed by this news.
