Just got this email from amazon.ca:
Odd. The disc has already been reviewed by DVD Savant. Could it be some kind of rights issue with the Canadian release??
Yikes! I hope it's just a mistake on Amazon's part.
I just got a copy of this over the weekend (a store I go to often breaks street dates) so I don't know what the story is from your on-line dealer.
It's pretty amazing, isn't it? I don't know how he finds the time. M.
Amazon must have just made a mistake. This will be released no doubt about it.
Yet another Amazon.ca screw up. They'll have it back again in a couple of months at a higher price. I'm pretty sure dOc has a review copy already too, so it is coming out.
This is Canada, so it's probably being released by Alliance Atlantis so they can Frenchize the cover or something, who knows... heh. Actually, very few MGM titles are released late in Canada, but I do remember Mannequin was released late.. in fact, I'm not sure it's even in Canada yet? So they may have pulled it from Canada shelves? Chris.
Damn, I completely forgot about Ron's review. Thanks for the confirmation.
Could it even have something to do with this disc being uncut and unrated? Does Canada have any censorship over there?
deep discount have just shipped a batch. sounds like mgm pulled an ed wood. good for ebay business though
not a mistake by Amazon, it's cancelled in Canada.
Well, then, I'm just gonna order it from a "Canada-friendly" US etailer, just like I'm gonna have to do for Pulp and Jackie Brown. Stupid country. Stupid MGM. Stupid dual languages on DVD cases. Sorry, I'm ranting and venting. But thanks for the heads-up from y'all.
It's hardly MGM's fault if they don't own the rights!
I mentioned this in the Rons Review Thread. I noticed Reel.com took it off their release list about a week ago. I was wondering why
How often do things like this happen to Canada?
Is Last House On The Left actually banned in Canada? I was under the impression that movies could only be banned by individual provinces (for instance, 5 years ago Pink Flamingos was banned in Nova Scotia, but not in Ontario). In any case, I was looking forward to this DVD and am annoyed by this news. Mark
