Who else would love a SE of Last Action Hero? The original DVD is years old now & in desperate need of a SE.

What are the chances of Last Action Hero getting the treatment it deserves?

Probably not too high, I think we're the only two people in existence who enjoyed this movie (and I haven't seen it in years, I may not even like it anymore! [IMG]).

C'mon, the film was great fun [IMG] I've noticed that my local ASDA have the current DVD in stock for £4.97 so I'm tempted to pick that up.

I've read that whilst the current DVD had a grainy PQ the sound was superb but I think that a 2-disc SE could easily be made for this one [IMG]

My region 2 copy has some extra features that I'm happy with. I also like the picture and sound quality on that release.
2 disc SE, though? Not going to happen.

Yeah, I'm dreaming when I say a 2-disc SE but they could easily do a new transfer & throw a couple of extras on there, maybe a commentary track.

I'd rather have no commentary track than having to listen to John McTiernan.

    I see your point though.

Japan has released a Superbit edition of this movie. Maybe that is worth checking out? Or maybe wait for the Superbit to be released in the States?

Well, there are four fans of the movie so far in this thread...I wish that were enough to warrant a do-over from Columbia/Tri-Star/Sony.

I was a little scared when I saw this in the theater and was one of two people in a sold-out house to understand the references to The Seventh Seal. It's just strange to be the only one laughing at something...

Make that 5. I never understood the huge negativity towards this film.

I bought the R2 disc for £2.99 in a Blockbuster sale. Beat that! The disc still stands up today, despite the 4:3 menus. Transfer is great.

If R1 gets an SE, then it'll lift over the extras from R2/4. The only extra is a 4:3 version, which is only needed if you want a headache.

May not be Arnold's best but overall it's a good and fun movie, I like it and would buy a new 2 disc edition or even 1 disc but with the image remastered.

This film used to be one of the favourite Arnold movies in our family. I often compare it with Mars Attacks!, because I think they may have sort of a 'European flavour'.

Both certainly seem to be valued higher in Europe than in most of the US.

I love this movie along with another so-called dud: "Waterworld".

They're great fun popcorn movies. I have never seen "Hudson Hawk"- but I assume I'd enjoy that as well.

    I'm in for the SE!

I'll be happy to pick it up and can vouch for a few friends who loved the movie, too. Are we getting into double-digit fan base yet? [IMG]

Yes, I think we've made the double digit goal [IMG]

I'm picking up the R2 standard edition DVD of LAH today, so sods law should mean that a SE will be announced any day now [IMG]

Since the current R1 DVD of this movie has been reduced to a 4:3 P&S travesty (this was one of the titles that were re-issued by Sony/CTS w/o the Widescreen transfer) anybody that has even a passing interest in this movie requires a new transfer!

In all seriousness, since Sony re-issued this disc with a P&S transfer only on R1 DVD, I would suspect that the Widescreen iteration will probably be a Blu-ray exclusive in the not too distant future.

I've just got my widescreen R2 copy, just skipped through a couple of scenes & I think the movie looks great, haven't got chance to check the sound out yet though. Extra features are a little skimpy but there is a couple of little bits.

Here's a couple of screen grabs if you're interested:

I'd definitely pick up a SE. Although I'd expect a SUPERBIT is more likely to be released.

I've been holding off on this movie b/c of the 4:3 only disc.

Hopefully SONY will wise up and release something next year.

I loved this film! (I wasn't a fan of Mars Attacks, but I liked both Eraser and Hudson Hawk. [IMG] )

I'm guessing that this one won't see another release until Blu-Ray. Hopefully then it'll get the special edition it deserves.
