Yeah LaserDisc came before CD, that why in the movie Terminator Crazy Eddie on the radio mentions "Compact LaserDisc". How compact are they! wawa wa wa!

BTW all I said was that even though the LD wasn't actually digital the basic principle of a digital laser read optical containment system, I.E. the reading of pit's and lands or 1's & 0's off an aluminum surface to derive data, was started within this 1973 (or 1957 when it was apparently first conceived!) device albeit in a slightly different form. I thought that was interesting. That is all I said. I was not talking about PCM itself.
