I use my laptop as a media hub through my home theater. It's got an awful ground loop problem and I know there are ground loop isolators available, but I'm wondering about the add-on sound cards either via USB (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/digitalmusicLX/) or the new one from SoundBlaster: http://www.soundblaster.com/products...y2zs_notebook/

I read a really horrible review of the USB versions of these and the guy at CompUSA said he heard a customer complain as well. So, anyone here use one of these with a notebook? What were your results?

I'm really enthused about the possibility of having an optical output/input from my laptop to my home theater. Will that eliminate a ground loop noise problem? Thanks!

For USB I would be more inclined to reccomend the audigy 2 NX which is a very good sourd card. The PCMCIA is new so I haven't heard much about it, but it does look promising.
