My laptop keyboard is having issues. When I hit the J key instead of a J a 1 comes up. Several other keys are having same issues with numbers. Been unable to find anything in the windows help and restarting has not helped. Any ideas?

Do you have a secondary keypad built into the main keyboard (like the keypad layout to the right on a full-side desktop keyboard)? If so, there's probably some way to toggle it on or off. Search the help info for "keypad" or something like that (and it may be in your laptop's hardware manual, not a windows manual).

Yeah, my laptop doesn't have that number pad on the left side, so when you use the modifier key, some of the letters turn into numbers.

    For example: The J becomes 1, the K becomes 2, L=3, U=4, I=5, etc.

Check to make sure your Function key isn't in the lock position.

EDIT: I don't know how much this helps, but with some Dell laptops, there are BIOS that turn this function on and off:

Thank you Mark, was the function key that was locked.
