Amazon is now showing a March 6 release date for this title, but I haven't seen a press release yet. Did I miss one? It just seems like that's coming awfully soon for something with no announcement.
Nothing from Fox as of yet. Good possibility by Tuesday as Fox sends press materials on Monday, but that's a holiday.
For some reason, I thought LADY BIRD was a Fox title.
With Lady Bird being out so long in movie theaters, it's the movie chains that benefit the most for playing this title in March not the studios. The longer a film plays in theaters, the studio percentage of box receipts decreases incrementally over time. So I would guess the studios get more monies from video product sales at this point in March.Although this is not the strategy most studios are currently employing with their Oscar contenders, I tend to believe they leave some theatrical money on the table by rushing them to disc right away after the ceremony, especially if they have a big winner, i.e. Picture. So it made sense to me that there wouldn't be a press release yet, if the title were being held for late April or May. If they are going with March 6, it is rather odd, though.

I noticed that, despite Amazon having the March 6 release date on their site, my pre-order says "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date. " This makes me wonder if something is going on, since as I am a Prime member, normally it would list the release date, March 6, as the delivery date.
I see that all the time, Jake.
I found Ladybird to be an american version of An Education. Found them to be almost the same.Gerwig's is my favorite original screenplay. It is a finely observed study of family dynamics. Even the secondary characters, students as well as docents, are carefully delineated. Gerwig's direction is also quite accomplished. I really loved this film.
Watch them back to back and maybe you'll change your mind.I found Ladybird to be an american version of An Education. Found them to be almost the same.
Probably not, I just see too many similarities.Watch them back to back and maybe you'll change your mind.
