This is a disc I refused to buy for one reason: the soundtrack. MGM made the mistake of remixing the horrible English dub for 5.1, while leaving the French track at 2.0. Then they omitted English subtitles (which was standard for MGM in those days) and used the English dub for the closed captioning.
According to people who have the disc, the 16:9-enhanced image is the best the film has ever looked on video. But unless you speak French, or don't mind the ugly and inaccurate closed captions, the soundtrack is a major negative.

    Michael,

Thanks for your comments, just scratched that title off my shopping list. Let's hope such a good film will be remastered soon.

The old OOP Trimark DVD has a better English subtitle track.

The picture on the Trimark is only so-so.

The best would be the MGM picture, the French Audio and the Trimark English Subtitles.

The MGM English subtitles just paraphrase the poor English dub.
