Was this title ever released on DVD? Are there any plans?
I remember when I was about 12 years old my father was watching it on TV and refused to let me watch the movie. It's been bugging me now for 32 years!

I could be mistaken (maybe I'm thinking of La Strada), but I thought Criterion had this one on the schedule for 2002.

I was the one that asked about this during the chat. I also have sent several e-mails to Artisan over the years, but have never gotten a response.

I have an R2 PAL release, has been available for sometime now, and yes it is anamorphic, and in reasonable condition considering it's age. Sound is DD mono. Excellent film.
