Criterion's rights expired, the film is listed as "Out of Print" on the Criterion website.

The new Paramount release is scheduled for 2/8/2022 per Amazon listing.

How can they lose the rights when they just released it along with other Fellini films in their Essential Fellini box set last year.

Obviously Paramount has a limit on its licensing deals. In addition to La Dolce Vita, other out of print Criterion Paramount titles include Days Of Heaven, Rosemary's Baby, The Last Command, Nashville and Underworld.

Any word on the transfer for this?
Yes.... you just need to click on the pre order link.......you'll see this information
"Federico Fellini, arguably the most popular Italian filmmaker of all time, had his biggest hit with this incredible international crossover. Both a critique of the culture of stardom and a look at the darkness beneath the seductive lifestyles of Rome’s rich, the film follows a notorious celebrity journalist over one crazy week. With iconic imagery, including the mesmerizing Trevi Fountain sequence, the movie has influenced generations of filmmakers, including Martin Scorsese. This Blu-ray contains the 4K digital restoration undertaken by the Cineteca di Bologna under the supervision of The Film Foundation."

I’ve got the older Criterion solo release. I think I’m good with that. But it’ll be interesting to see if this is a superior Bluray.

It does mention the same restoration that was used for Criterion on the new Paramount release. You can find that information on Amazon

So, no one has any actual information that this release will be any different than the Criterion Blu-ray? Because, unless I'm mis-remembering, the Blu-ray in the Fellini box is the same as their earlier Blu-ray release years earlier?

The blu-ray in the Criterion Fellini box is the same as their previous stand-alone release in 2014.
