Too bad its 2.0 sound and not the roadshow version. I'll still buy it.

The big questions her are - is this the uncut roadshow version?
is this in the original stereo?

No and No.

See post #14735 here

MisterLime posted:

The beautiful 2.35:1 HD masters we received for both Custer and Krakatoa are the regular versions of the films and does not include the roadshow extras. We have no control over what's a "dealbreaker" to some and what's not.

From the DVD Talk review:

This release of Krakatoa appears sourced from a 35mm general release version, rather than from the original 65mm negative. No cinematographic process is listed in the credits, and the transfer is in 2.35:1 ‘scope rather than 2.20:1 Super Panavision. And, like Custer of the West, the audio is underwhelming (if DTS-HD) mono, unlike the original 6-track magnetic stereo release, which really must have been something back in 1969.

Nonetheless, even from this print-down version, the image is sharper than most native ‘scope titles from the period, though even it shows signs of damage here and there. It's too bad the immersive qualities of 70mm Cinerama aren't adequately reproduced here and there are some impressive you-are-in-the-picture type shots. Even the triptych opening hearkens back to the glory days of three-panel Cinerama.

I always got a laugh out of the fact that Brian Keith played a character named Conerly and had a girlfriend named "Charley" which would mean if they got married her name would be "Charley Conerly" (the name of a famous NFL Quarterback of the late 1950s with the Giants!)

I remember him (#42, before the days when the NFL limited what positions can wear what numbers). Wow, are we OLD!

Although no process is credited, I think it is widely accepted that it was filmed in Todd-AO Not Super Panavision.
If it is mono, it's a no buy for me.

I really enjoy this film and ready to retire the U.K. DVD. Mono is acceptable for it will never be the roadshow and stereo.

Blu Ray.com have a review up and it still says 2.0 audio, it would have been good to mention Mono or Stereo.

DVD Beaver have a review and guess what still no mention of Mono or Stereo.
Also they say this was filmed in Super Panavision 70 when I am sure they used Todd-AO cameras.
