Hello, I'm new to this forum, and looking for some advice. I received a Klipsch SW12-II for free, but it seems as if the driver is blown. The amp seems to be working fine, as i hooked up the wires to another sub i have laying around. if im not mistaken, the amp is supposed to see an 8 ohm load, will any 8 ohm 12" sub rated at 150 watts rms work? any particular suggestions as to which one? thanks in advanced.

How did you come to this conclusion? Push test for noise? Check the resistance of the voice coil?

Not always. Most aftermarket plate amps are designed to work best with a 4 ohm load and Klipsch gets their amps from the same factory....After a quick Google search, it's an 8 ohm nominal driver.

How do you define "work"? Yes, it will produce sound but it will not be optimum for the Klipsch enclosure.

Call up Klipsch and get a replacement driver. Or check Ebay for the part number KLIPSCH K-26-K. There are 2 for sale on there.
