Hi!

I see no mention of this release: Kirk Douglas: The Centennial Collection (8 films)
81R0L89lfAL._SL1500_.jpg

It Includes:

Spartacus
Man Without a Star
The Last Sunset
Lonely Are the Brave
The List of Adrian Messenger
For Love or Money
The War Wagon
A Lovely Way to Die

I'm not sure which ones are new to region 1 DVD.
The only one I can positively say is new to region 1 is Man Without a Star. Let's hope for a properly matted Superscope transfer.
And I'd wish for a new transfer of The Last Sunset, but I guess it'll not be fulfilled.

Yes; however, you may want to inform the OP that Man Without a Star (and possibly all of the others except for Spartacus) are Blu's released in Germany, in case the OP is not region-free.

I can confirm that both Man Without a Star and Lonely Are the Brave are indeed region-free. I don't have The Last Sunset yet so I don't know about that one.

The War Wagon was also released in Region A.

I know this sounds like an excuse, because it is - I overlooked that title because it was originally included in the box set that returned "Rio Bravo" to print after "Rio Bravo" had been out-of-print for several years. However, they eventually released the titles in the box set individually, right?

Also, everybody knows - that's not a Kirk Douglas film; it's a John Wayne film.:)

The War Wagon is a Universal title while Rio Bravo belongs to Warner.

A Police Woman told me this was a Angie Dickinson film ...
A Ding-A-Ling girl said this was a Dean Martin film ... :D

All three of those titles play on Region A BD players.

Any Centennial celebration of Kirk Douglas should absolutely include Ace in the Hole, his best performance, IMHO.

Is this the first time For Love Or Money has been released on disc? I saw that film when it first came out and I'd like to see it again. (Mitzi Gaynor/Julie Newmar/Thelma Ritter/Gig Young/William Bendix as well as Kirk Douglas; that's some cast)

Thank you. I must have missed that. I'll buy it separately because, like so many others, I already have most of the other titles in this new Kirk Douglas set.

Here's a post on the German Blu-ray:

I too have the german BD and I watched it a view hours ago.

The PQ is IMO a DNR catastrophy, it reminds me of aquarell paintings.
The grain was squeezed out to the last drop.

I'd like to see a better Blu.
