I'm considering a Velodyne CHT-12 sub at CC for $600, or a Klipsch RSW 12 for $1250. I could also consider the Velodyne CHT 15 for about $100 more. I have Altec Voice of the Theater fronts. I'm about 65% music/35% movies. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

The Klipsch (although better than the CHT-12) is not worth another $650. IMO, if you are willing to spend $1200 on a subwoofer then there are better options (more bang/buck) than either sub. Read / search some recent subwoofer topics for suggestions...

Ron, are those prices in american dollars? If so the RSW-12 seems a little expensive. It's a great sub, but isn't exatly the best bang for the buck, however if your concerned with SQ, then it can't be beat.

I had up to 2k subs in my house recently and NONE imo were as musical as the rsw 15,$1250.00 delivered to your door.I don't even consider some of these subs music friendly, some rumble, thump,no I prefer powerfull BASS that musical too.For mostly HT there are other good subs at this price, for music few,and many reviewers agree. If you listen to music/5.1 concerts, bring it home, hook it up you will be impressed!

With VOTs I suggest the Klipsch, but at that price range I agree with others on looking at comparatives. For my ear with the VOTs I would only look at Velodynes HGS series as well. Great mains that would benefit from a great sub...

Looks like I'll be researching a bit more. My dealer with the Klipsch has the sticker at $1400(U.S.) but offered it to me for $1250. They will be getting the RSW-15 which will be $1800(I assume I could do a little better).

    Thanks for the input guys.

    Ron,

Push your Klipsch rep for $1,000 to $1,100 on the RSW-12. It is very typical to get Klipsch at a 20% to 25% discount locally.

If you are a Klipsch fan and and have a local dealer you may be able to get two KSW-12's cheaper than one RSW-12.

I currently have a KSW-15 which produces more bass than I will ever use. I used to have the KSW-12 that in hindsight I found to be more musical. I wish I would have gotten two KSW-12's.

    $1800 for a RSW-15?

    I'm almost sure I've seen a RSW-15 for $999. That's in Canadian dollars too.

RSW 12 msrp 1400.00 US, the 15 is $1800.00.The 12 is a good deal up to 1100.00,the 15 1s a good deal up to 1450.00.You can find them for 950.00/rsw 12, and 1250.00/rsw 15, on line if you shop around. The only way you need the 15 over the 12 is if you have a huge room or must have the top of the line. The 12 will more than surprise most people who demo it at home,it did me.
