I purchased 15 films in this new sale and still have that feeling of "Maybe I should have gotten <fill in the blank> as well" on a couple more titles. Some are films I've enjoyed and wanted to own for awhile but hadn't gotten around to until now, and some are blind buys which I've been curious about and now, with the sale, decided to take a chance.

    My purchases:

    100 Rifles (1969)
    And Soon the Darkness (1970)
    The Annihilators (1985)
    The Black Windmill (1974)
    Blindfold (1966)
    Charley Varrick (1973)
    ffolkes (1980)
    The Laughing Policeman (1973)
    The Long Goodbye (1973)
    Ordeal by Innocence (1984)
    Phobia (1980)
    The Psychopath (1966)
    Robbery (1967)
    The Sicilian Clan (1969)
    Street People (1976)

I'd love a good Blu-ray disc of this film too. It's been uploaded to YouTube and by those very low standards, the picture quality is watchable.

No sign of The Carpetbaggers ?

paramounts biggest box office hit from the 1960’s

The great Marty Balsam in his best role

George Peppard who makes Lord Vader look like mother Teresa

and who could forget the beautiful Elizabeth Ashley?

This film carried the great Alan Ladd in his final performance

and was finished in technicolor so would look phenomenal on Blu ray

please Mr Kino if you could aim a howitzer at paramounts nuts ....

Quite an overlap with my order. I got those four plus The Big Country (60th Anniversary Special Edition). Now I just need to find some time to watch them all.

You answered your own question in line one with your second sentence. I am not awfully optimistic that, just because Scream Factory has nabbed a few of the catalog horror titles from Paramount, that they're ready to open their vaults. THE CARPETBAGGERS is not a well-remembered movie and doesn't seem like an obvious candidate for licensing. But who knows?

Easy Living's arrival to Blu-Ray didn't get much attention, but I viewed my disc a few months back and thought it looked pretty sharp for a picture from 1937 that wasn't afforded with a huge budget in the 2000's to create a cleaned up high-definition transfer of. So I bet you two will enjoy your purchase, although I viewed it on a pretty small tv by 2019 standards which helps conceal issues.

I still need to buy A Foreign Affair to catch up with Jean Arthur films available on Blu-Ray. Probably the next time they add additional discontinued movies to their sale, I'll sneak that one in. Will be great to see this looking good. I've only seen it on Turner Classic Movies through the years, looking more like a rough YouTube upload or something you'd find on a public domain dollar store DVD disc.

I'm glad Kino was able to rectify that situation. I just hope they have some more Jean Arthur and classic black & white American films from Hollywood's Golden Age planned to announce throughout 2020. Has seemed rather slow in this area in the past few months.

I do believe...or at least I want to...that Kino may have leased a few non genre Paramount films and put them out in their Shout Select line ( as they have done with Universal ie The Front Page and others) . This may be the only way we can see Looking For Mr. Goodbar; Ordinary People; The Day of the Locust; Citizens Band; Black Sunday; American Hot Wax; Hustle; Lipstick; The Bad News Bears trilogy; The Big Bus;Starting Over; Foul Play; Heaven Can Wait ; North Fallas Forty; The Man Who Wasnt There and others. Hopefully Paramount still holds the rights to 1975s The Stepford Wives which would be perfect for the genre line which should also see King Kong; The Keep; The Tenant ; It Came From Hollywood and others to Blu. It seems that Criterion may have rights to Bugsy Malone and The Elephant Man as both were shown on The Criterion Channel.

Kino is not connected to Shout.

And the fact that the Criterion Channel showed a particular title does not mean that have the rights to a given movie. They recently showed several MGM movies that are owned by Warners

Yeah, the Criterion Channel gets a temporary licence to show any number of films that they have no control over. It goes the other way, as well - there are films they've released on disc that they don't have the streaming rights to.

Not true - I have an Australian DVD of it - it's not very good, so I'll be really looking forward to this. The Australian, despite saying it's 16x9, isn't - it's open matte. While the film isn't perfect, Ms. Duke is and Martin Balsam is fantastic, but all the actors are. And I have to say it's one of my all-time favorite Mancini scores.

I saw this film when it first came out and so did a work colleague. I remember discussing it with him. But I've never seen it or thought about it since then and I'd completely forgotten it.

Well, I was referring to R1 of course and should have included that in my remark.

There should be no 'of course' ... some of us regard this as an international forum for info.
