The Group is an ensemble film directed by the great Sidney Lumet (Network, The Verdict, Dog Day Afternoon), based on the novel by Mary McCarthy (The Company She Keeps) and adapted for the screen by legendary screenwriter Sidney Buchman (Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington) - about a group of eight young women–all classmates, friends, and recent graduates from a certain single-sex liberal arts college–as they face the inevitable pressures to sand the rough edges off their personalities and to surrender their independence to the men in their lives and the institutions they represent. The stellar cast includes Candice Bergen (Rich and Famous) in her film debut, Joan Hackett (Support Your Local Sheriff), Elizabeth Hartman (A Patch of Blue), Shirley Knight (The Rain People), Jessica Walter (Play Misty for Me), Joanna Pettet (Casino Royale), Kathleen Widdoes (TV’s As the World Turns), Larry Hagman (TV’s Dallas), Hal Holbrook (Magnum Force) and Richard Mulligan (Scavenger Hunt), James Congdon (4D Man). Award-winning cinematographer Boris Kaufman (On the Waterfront) lends this tale his peculiar sense of lighting with rich, captivating colors.

OMG! The Group!!! I was beginning to think it would never happen on blu ray. Thank you, Kino Lorber! Love this film. Would be fantastic if KL could get a commentary or interviews with Candice Bergen, Shirley Knight, Joanna Pettet and/or Jessica Walter for this.

Well, with the new Studio Canal deal, and the Universal deal, we could get an R1/A Musketeers set

SC put out Three Musketeers/Four Musketeers on Blu in the U.K. (through Optimum)
And Universal released Return Of The Musketeers on their DVD Vault series

Another answer in support -- the Musketeer series needs a decent 4k U.S. release -- the European editions have been completely wiped of film grain and look like video. RETURN OF THE MUSKETEERS, while reuniting most of cast (unfortunately Roy Kinnear as Planchet, so funny in the first two films, suffered a fatal equestrian accident during the making of this 1989 sequel, and his absence is certainly felt in the second half) and the director, Richard Lester, is not up to the original two films (produced simultaneously but released separately which, for salary and royalty reasons, pissed off nearly everyone but the studio, as they were all paid for one film). It seems hastily assembled and lacks the marvelous character moments we had loved fifteen years earlier. But, hey, if Kino can get the trilogy, I'd be in Nirvana.

Many thanks, Kino, for going the extra mile and commissioning commentary tracks for so many of these films. That is my favorite extra, provided the commentator is knowledgeable and preferably a historian who is engaging and leaves very few silent spots. Keep it up!

Youngblood (1986) with optional English subtitles
• NEW Audio Commentary by director Peter Markle
• Theatrical Trailer

Color 110 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R
Are you ready for exhilarating speed, invigorating competition and skating so sharp-edged you can feel the ice spraying in your face? Then prepare yourself for YOUNGBLOOD!Showcasing the talents of Rob Lowe (The Hotel New Hampshire, St. Elmo’s Fire) and Patrick Swayze (Point Break, Ghost), Youngblood is fist-flying, stick-smashing, body-checking thrills right up to the final buzzer. Teenager Dean Youngblood (Lowe) has out-skated just about everybody since he was six. Now he's set his sights toward National Hockey League fame with the ragtag Hamilton Mustangs, an amateur Canadian team just across the border from his family's farm. Certain that his swift moves on the ice will dazzle the crowds, Dean quickly learns that his speed and finesse won't pack enough punch against the bad boys of the league, the Thunder Bay Bombers. And when the Mustangs' top scorer (Swayze) gets knocked out, Dean has to turn from a rookie to an all-star fast. Directed by Peter Markle (Bat 21) and featuring Cynthia Gibb (Modern Girls), Ed Lauter (Breakheart Pass), Jim Youngs (The Wanderers) and Keanu Reeves (River’s Edge).

The Real McCoy (1993) with optional English subtitles
• NEW Audio Commentary by Director Russell Mulcahy
• Theatrical Trailer

Color 105 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated PG-13
After six long years in prison for a foiled bank robbery, legendary criminal Karen McCoy (Kim Basinger, L.A. Confidential, The Marrying Man) wants nothing more than to turn her life around. But her hopes are soon shattered: No one will hire her, she's stuck with a sleazy parole officer, and her ex-husband has told their son that she's dead. To make matters worse, crime lord Jack Schmidt (Terence Stamp, The Limey, Modesty Blaise) is forcing her to pull off a seemingly impossible $18 million bank job with the full knowledge that once she hands over the cash, she's history. Cult filmmaker Russell Mulcahy (Highlander, Ricochet) directed this action-packed heist thriller that co-stars Val Kilmer (Real Genius, The Saint) as J.T. Barker, an eager but inept would-be thief Karen recruits for help.

Mad Dog and Glory (1993) with optional English subtitles
• NEW Audio Commentary by Director John McNaughton
• Theatrical Trailer

Color 97 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R
Screen icons Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver, True Confessions), Uma Thurman (Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Pulp Fiction) and Bill Murray (Stripes, Groundhog Day) team up in this wildly offbeat action-comedy that proves when trouble comes, anything goes. When shy, soft-spoken Chicago detective Wayne "Mad Dog" Dobie (De Niro) inadvertently saves the life of local gangster Frank Milo (Murray), he's the reluctant recipient of an unusual one week "thank you" gift–a beautiful bartender named Glory (Thurman). Before the week is out, the two have fallen madly in love, making for a murderous showdown with Milo. Now Dobie must live up to his ironic nickname or it will be "no guts, no Glory" in this heartwarming comedy. So was Scream and Scream Again. Kino must now have the rights.
There is a lot of room for improvement with the transfer used on the TT release. which Kino is reportedly working on. The TT release is probably the worst looking title they have released. Although they only released what MGM provided them.

Nothing beat the abysmal quality of TT's Titus and Demetrius and the Gladiators. Kino is ramping up its game and its good to see. Can't wait for Sweet Charity and The Champagne Murders - among too many others to list.
