I think I read on the HTF that there was a scene in Sweet Charity that was on the VHS and left out on the DVD. I don't think it had to do with the ending. Am I right on this?

You are mostly correct. It wasn’t a full scene just part of the courthouse scene where Charity and Oscar go to get married. It’s complete on the French blu-ray, so I imagine it will be complete on the new Kino blu. Not sure why it happened on the dvd. There was nothing in the dialogue that warranted it. But it was in the middle of the scene so it was a deliberate cut. It was weird.

Let's hope the video master (Sweet Charity) has the correct discrete track on this release (4.0 or 5.1) Kino please note.

I've been waiting ages for RIDER ON THE RAIN, which is one of my favorite French films of the late 60's. I saw it at the old Apollo on 42nd street, which used to show double bills of foreign language films subtitled, as one of the owner's children was deaf. They showed a lot of films in their original versions that you couldn't see elsewhere. I especially remember a double bill of PIERROT LE FOU and THE SICILIAN CLAN, which I went to repeatedly the week it was running.

Not to steal KL Insider's thunder (But I Will :)

Over at the other forum, KL announced the following (re: Rider in the Rain announcement)

"We just signed a deal with Studio Canal. And Rider on the Rain is part of this large deal

    130 titles.

Yes, we do have some horror titles.

SC also did smaller deals with two other labels, so some of the essential horror titles and foreign films ended up with these two other labels.

We cannot confirm or deny any titles.".

For me, bring on Dunkirk, The Dam Busters, and Ice Cold in Alex!!!

It looks like Shout! Factory had the Hammer titles.

Would anyone happen to know if StudioCanal still has the rights to the Anglo-Amalgamated Carry On films? I’ve recently been getting into the films (saw Carry On Screaming last month on TCM) and have been eager to see the early films, particularly Carry On Cleo (which I’ve heard was shot on the Pinewood sets built for Cleopatra before production moved to Italy) and would like to know if there’s a chance that Kino could get those films.

I think they said they have Parasite. Hopefully it's the 1982 Parasite with Demi Moore. If they could get the 3D version, have the 3D Film Archive do the restoration.

Yes, they are all with Studio Canal. Sorry, but we're not interested in releasing them.

Too bad, but I understand their limited appeal here in the U.S. I bought this four-pack of "Carry On" films from Amazon this past week (on DVD). I've watched two so far, and I am embarrassed at how many times I caught myself laughing out loud. Thank goodness for my region-free player.
