Here’s an update on our painstaking restoration of MONEY FROM HOME from the original 35mm Technicolor Dynoptic 3-D camera negatives; 72 reels totaling 54,000 feet of film!

Jack Theakston finished shot by shot recombining the red/green/blue left, right negatives.

Yesterday, Dave Northrop at FilmMedia finished color grading.

3DFA Technical Director Greg Kintz is currently working on reel 4 (of 12) on 3-D alignment and panel matching. Once finished, the files will go to Charlotte Barker at the Paramount Pictures Archive for digital cleanup of dirt and damage.

Charlotte has finished scanning and restoration of the original 35mm mono optical track negative.

We are not quite in the home stretch but are making significant progress every week on this VERY tedious and complex Six-Strip Technicolor restoration!

Yeah, that’s a pretty stacked package with regards to Xanadu. This is one of my mom’s guilty pleasure movies which admittedly has some good songs plus a decent animation sequence from Don Bluth, so it’s nice to see it get the deluxe treatment.
