Wasn’t aware that Eddie had announced he was retired from commentaries. Too bad.Since, Eddie Muller's audio commentary retirement, I was hoping that Imogen Sara Smith would do one for this great film.
LOVE the dual cover jackets! Wish KL would do more of them!Coming July 11th!

This gritty and quintessential film noir is drenched in greed, cynicism and corruption of the soul, as embodied by John Garfield (The Postman Always Rings Twice, He Ran All the Way) in one of his most memorable roles. Garfield is perfectly cast as Joe Morse, a lawyer whose connection to a ruthless racketeer has nearly destroyed his sense of morality. His participation in a rigged numbers racket could prove disastrous for his high-strung brother (superbly played by Thomas Gomez, Key Largo), whose small-time policy bank stands to go broke when the rigged numbers pay off. Writer and director Abraham Polonsky (in his masterful directorial debut) was later victimized by the Hollywood blacklist, curtailing his career for decades until he directed Robert Redford in 1969’s Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here. Force of Evil also features a scorching supporting cast which includes Beatrice Pearson (Lost Boundaries), Paul Fix (Guns, Girls and Gangsters), Howland Chamberlain (House by the River) and film noir queen Marie Windsor (The Killing).

I also saw the film as Duck You Sucker and went back the next week to find a new poster in the lobby for A Fistful Of Dynamite. Two weeks was it as the film died in the same way Once Upon A Time In The West did. I own four versions of Duck You Sucker/ A Fistful Of Dynamite so far, all different. The Eureka is as yellow as The Good The Bad And The Ugly was originally. The Good The Bad And The Ugly is still not there yet, but better than it was. It's still cold looking. Luckily a friend has an original 35mm /67 print and you can see the only Video release that was perfect and now unavailable was the Medusa with no subs. But that's another conversation. There will be months of aspect ratio, versions, color palate discussions and until we see what Kino is going to do, we will have to wait, not speculate. What makes it a bit confusing is that versions known by the title A Fistful of Dynamite were often the shorter version, and as Duck, You Sucker the longer. No doubt you’re right, they’ll stick with the 157 minute cut.
I've had the Olive blu ray release forever and i have had the Arrow release in my amazon wish list for a long time. Never pulled the trigger for some reason. Now i'm glad i didn't. Doesn't usually work out that way for me.This will be the third time I purchase this title on Blu-ray. I'm really looking forward to seeing it derived from a new 4K scan.
I think Kino is only Cohen's distributor. See the following post:Just wondering if the newly announced Black Pirate/Robin Hood Doug Fairbanks Cohen BD release might be considered a Kino release as well as they do partner with Cohen. More below on this fabulous release.
Never got around to getting the Blu-ray, so I'm really looking forward to this.Coming July 18th on 4KUHD and Blu-ray!

William Petersen (Manhunter, TV’s CSI) and Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Mississippi Burning) face off in a deadly game of cat and mouse in this riveting action-thriller directed by cinema legend William Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist, Sorcerer). Full of style and grit, this raw tale of corruption and revenge boasts one of the most harrowing car chases ever caught on film and a shockingly explosive ending. Federal agent Richard Chance (Petersen) has a score to settle, and he’s through playing by the rules. Whether that means blackmailing a beautiful parolee, disobeying direct orders or hurtling the wrong way down a crowded freeway, he vows to take down a murderous counterfeiter (Dafoe) by any means necessary. But as the stakes grow higher, will Chance’s dark obsession with vengeance destroy him? The ultimate ’80s neo-noir, To Live and Die in L.A. features John Pankow, Debra Feuer, John Turturro, Darlanne Fluegel, Steve James, Dwier Brown and Dean Stockwell, with cinematography by Robby Müller (Paris, Texas) that captures the City of Angels from the trendy elegance of Rodeo Drive to the seedy, neon glow of Hollywood.

NEEDFUL THINGS (1993)
I'm guessing the TV version up-rez is something different from what can usually be done by a standard blu-ray player playing SD?
Well, ideally, the studio will have better software to do the upconversion than what's built into a DVD player or TV. And it can take more time to do it than a real-time conversion. Even so, there's only so much that can be gotten out of a low-res source. Don't expect miracles.
Not my kind of movie, but that's a brilliant slugline: No Gun. No Knife, No Equal.Saturday's Facebook Announcement:
