For me, the best thing about the movie--almost worth the price of admission--was the way the star pronounced the title of the film."It's NOT a tumor!"

Thank you ... your recent purchase caused the Karma cinemas gods & goddesses to have it be released on 4KI just broke down and bought the Blu-ray in December last year thinking this won't happen any time soon. Oh well, it was on a really good sale at Grub so no big deal. Looking forward to this UHD!
I know little about it, but I’ll have to pick these up. The BBC was so good during this period.Coming to Blu-ray March 28th from Kino Classics!

Long-awaited and unseen anywhere for decades, Georges Simenon’s Maigret (1960-1963) is the definitive adaptation of Georges Simenon’s world famous novels. This BBC television production stars Rupert Davies as Commissaire Jules Maigret, the dogged French detective. Though Simenon’s books have been adapted many times, Davies’s celebrated, BAFTA-winning portrayal won the approval of Simenon himself, who stated: "At last, I have found the perfect Maigret!" This four disc-set includes all 13 episodes of Season 4, in which Maigret reckons with “The Fontenay Murders”, “The Crime at Lock 14”, and various other vexing cases that only the moody Maigret can solve. Georges Simenon’s Maigret has been remastered in High Definition from original film elements and is featured here in its original fullscreen TV format.
Special Features:
*“Play of the Month: Maigret at Bay” (1969, 92 minutes)
*“The State of Maigret”: Restoration Notes
*Trailer
*Optional English SDH subtitles
*Limited edition O-Card

Pamela Reed is always extraordinary. One thing that nobody never mentions is Pamela Reed's spot-on impression of Arnold as his "sister."
Somehow never managed to see this film. Looking forward to it.Coming April 4th!

THE BIG EASY (1987)
• 2021 HD Master by Lionsgate
• NEW Audio Commentary by Director Jim McBride, Moderated by Filmmaker Douglas Hosdale
• Theatrical Trailer
• Limited Edition O-Card Slipcase
• Optional English Subtitles
Color 102 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R
Dennis Quaid (D.O.A., Far from Heaven) and Ellen Barkin (Sea of Love, Bad Company) star in The Big Easy, a box-office hit that captivated audiences with its saucy blend of New Orleans nightlife, steamy romance and sultry suspense. When a hood’s murder triggers a bloody gangland drug war, detective Remy McSwain (Quaid) is on the scene. He’s a smooth-talkin’ cop who fits right in with the easy style of Cajun country. Remy meets his match in Anne Osborne (Barkin), a no-nonsense Assistant District Attorney in town to investigate police corruption. At odds from the moment they meet, their electrically charged attraction keeps the sparks flying. Directed by Jim McBride (David Holzman’s Diary, Breathless, Great Balls of Fire!), scripted by Daniel Petrie Jr. (Beverly Hills Cop) and co-starring Ned Beatty (White Lightning) and John Goodman (Barton Fink), The Big Easy is one of the strongest—and sexiest—neo-noir thrillers of the ’80s.

THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER (1953)
• Brand New 2K Master
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Toby Roan
• Theatrical Trailer (Newly Mastered in 2K)
• Optional English Subtitles
Hollywood legend Tyrone Power (The Mark of Zorro, Prince of Foxes) plays a high-stakes game for love and money in the Technicolor adventure The Mississippi Gambler. Mark Fallon (Power), a riverboat gambler on his way to New Orleans, meets Angelique Dureau (pitch-perfect Piper Laurie, Son of Ali Baba, The Hustler), a Southern belle who spurns his charm and advances. Using his winnings to build a casino, Fallon’s card skills make him a fortune, while his pursuit of the fiery Angelique leads to knife fights, family feuds and duels over personal honor. Written by Seton I. Miller (The Adventures of Robin Hood, Here Comes Mr. Jordan) and directed by Rudolph Maté (D.O.A., When Worlds Collide), The Mississippi Gambler is a rip-roaring western romance with a sparkling cast including Julie Adams (Bend of the River).

• Moment to Moment with Mancini: Featurette Trailer (2:49) - Newly Mastered in 2K

The ravishing and radiant Jean Seberg (Breathless) and Honor Blackman (Goldfinger) star in this deliciously twisted affair of illicit lovemaking and mysterious murder, all set in the exotic French Riviera. “He’s dead!” Thus begins the story of the beautiful Mrs. Kay Stanton (Seberg), left alone in the paradise of Cannes, France, as her husband, a globetrotting psychiatrist, lectures across Europe. As much as she resists, she can only simply surrender into the arms of a forbidden lover, a handsome, young American ensign. But their night of passion has deadly consequences—or does it? Not all is as it seems as the unfolding drama becomes evermore intriguing and intense. Based on a story by Alec Coppel (Vertigo), this romantic neo-noir thriller features the lush music of Henry Mancini (Touch of Evil, The Pink Panther) accompanied by the remarkable direction of Hollywood veteran Mervyn LeRoy (Little Caesar, Mister Roberts).

I'm pleased about this. I saw the film when it first came out and I enjoyed it. The critical establishment sneered at the film as being old-fashioned and it was very rarely shown in repertory theaters in those long ago days before VHS. I look forward to seeing the film again. An extra bonus is the title song by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer.Coming April 11th!

I have the MOD DVD and I'll have another look at it to decide if I want to upgrade. The film's very enjoyable and it contains my favorite performance from Piper Laurie. She plays the spirited but haughty and snobbish daughter of a rich man and does it really well. This was on my Tyrone Power want list for years but I've never been able to see it. Thanks Kino!
KLSC has been very helpful to me in achieving my goal of owning on Blu-ray every film whose title follows the pattern "Moment ______ Moment".Coming April 11th!
