And this is the first Blu-ray release for region A.
Right, it's strange that Paramount released it in the UK, but not the States. Anyhow, I purchased that Region "B" Blu-ray more than 13 years ago as I wanted to replace my 2003 DVD. Paramount had a couple of DVD releases here in the States.

The Italian Job producer Michael Deeley really hated that film poster & blamed it for the poor US box office. I don't blame him, it's a lightweight comedy caper movie & that poster makes it look like some kind of Mafia drama (he said whoever designed it obviously never saw the movie).

I agree with the producer. Also, a weird design for a film that received a G rating.

Wow, I mean WOW, 4K Restoration by Paramount Pictures!, didn't see that one coming, figured they would have kept it for their own "Presents" line. Glad it found a home in Kino's library of great releases, Love this film, just plain fun!

So Proudly We Hail (1943)
• Brand New 2K Master
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian and Writer Julie Kirgo
• Theatrical Trailer
• Optional English Subtitles

B&W 126 Minutes 1.37:1 Not Rated
Screen greats Claudette Colbert (The Sign of the Cross), Paulette Goddard (The Cat and the Canary) and Veronica Lake (Sullivan’s Travels) star in this passionate film based on a true story about American Army nurses during World War II. Colbert shines as Lt. Janet Davidson, in charge of nine nurses serving in the Pacific. From the bombing of Pearl Harbor to the time they are shipped home, these extraordinary women tirelessly treat the wounded despite constant reminders of danger, romance and heartbreak. Made during wartime with the cooperation of the American Red Cross, the War Department and the Army Nurses Corp, this stirring tribute to the brave “Angels of Bataan” received Academy Award nominations for acting (Goddard), writing (Allan Scott, Blue Skies), cinematography (Charles Lang, A Farewell to Arms) and visual effects. So Proudly We Hail also features George Reeves (TV’s Adventures of Superman), Barbara Britton (The Virginian), Walter Abel (Arise, My Love) and Sonny Tufts (The Crooked Way) with rousing direction by Mark Sandrich (Holiday Inn).

Bright Victory (1951)

• Brand New 2K Master
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian/Screenwriter Gary Gerani
• Trailers
• Optional English Subtitles

B&W 97 Minutes 1.37:1 Not Rated
From Mark Robson, the acclaimed director of The Bridges at Toko-Ri, The Harder They Fall, Peyton Place and Von Ryan Express, comes this searing drama starring Arthur Kennedy (Boomerang) in a brilliant, Oscar-nominated role. During World War II, Sergeant Larry Nevins (Kennedy) is blinded by enemy fire and lands in a military hospital with African-American soldier Joe Morgan (James Edwards, Home of the Brave) and attending nurse Judy Greene (Peggy Dow, Shakedown). Though he’s engaged to a young woman (Julie Adams, Bend of the River) back home, Larry finds himself falling for Judy. Meanwhile, his casual racism damages his friendship with Joe. On the long and painful road to recovery, Larry begins to realize how much he truly cares for Judy…and how wrong he was to judge others by their race. Will Geer (Broken Arrow), Nana Bryant (Harvey), Jim Backus (TV’s Gilligan’s Island), Richard Egan (The 300 Spartans), Murray Hamilton (Jaws) and Rock Hudson (The Tarnished Angels) add stellar support to this deeply moving film about one man’s redemption through courage, care and love.
