Fritz the Cat (1972)
• Brand New 2K Master
• NEW Audio Commentary with Artist/Historian Stephen Bissette and Author G. Michael Dobbs
• Theatrical Trailer
• Optional English Subtitles

Color 78 Minutes 1.85:1 Unrated
Maverick writer/director Ralph Bakshi (Heavy Traffic, Wizards) made his feature-length film debut with this audacious foray into adult-content animation, creating one of the most successful animated features of its time! Based on a legendary character created by underground comic book artist/writer R. Crumb, Fritz the Cat is a brilliant commentary on ’60s life and a “snarling satire that stubbornly refuses to curl up in anyone’s lap” (Playboy). It’s the age of awakening and Fritz, one way-cool cat and NYU student, loves to embrace every experimental experience that crosses his path. Embarking on a fantastic journey of self-discovery, he indulges in everything from multiple bedroom follies to a wild joy ride through a dangerous Harlem. But when Fritz joins a group of radically aggressive hippies, he finds himself holding the dynamite that will detonate the ultimate ’60s statement—one that could cost him his life!

The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat (1974)
• Brand New 2K Master
• Theatrical Trailer
• Optional English Subtitles

Color 77 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R
That infamous cat and his twisted life are back! Staying within the tradition set by the audacious and racy Fritz the Cat, director/co-writer Robert Taylor takes R. Crumb’s way-cool feline character from the boundary-pushing ’60s to the harsh realities of Vietnam, racial riots and Watergate of the ’70s in a sequel ripe with “pure silliness [and a] hip story-telling style” (Variety)! Fritz has got the post-college blues—he’s married to a mouthy wife who berates him constantly, and he’s out of work and on unemployment! To escape his sad, nagging reality, Fritz launches himself into a psychedelic haze with a mind-blowing catnip that takes him to his eight other lives. There, he lives out fantasies as an out-of-this-world astronaut, an aide to President Kissinger and worse—an orderly to Hitler! But as his star-crossed hallucinations put him on a collision course with reality, Fritz becomes a casualty just waiting to happen!

Coming to Blu-ray October 19th from Good Deed Entertainment and Kino Lorber!

Summertime
Directed by Carlos López Estrada

Summertime follows the intersecting stories of 27 young spoken word poets over a single day in Los Angeles. Director Carlos López Estrada’s (Blindspotting, Raya and the Last Dragon) ground-breaking vision began at a poetry showcase where performers from across the City of Angels recited fearlessly personal texts about themselves, their communities, and their relationship to their city. The project was then developed around their individual poems and interwoven into a larger, unified, and gloriously moving narrative experiment — part contemporary musical and part sociological art. Summertime explores themes of identity, community, and intersectionality through the unique perspectives of this diverse ensemble.

Special features:
*The Road to Summertime: The Making of Summertime
*Q&A with Cast & Director
*Carlos López Estrada: An Emerging Voice
*Blooper Reel
*Audio commentary with Director and Cast
*Optional English SDH subtitles
*Trailers

What makes me feel old?

When a film whose production I helped fund during my career at a federal cultural agency now needs to be restored.

But no complaints. It's a great film.

Great to hear a confirmed release date for Shake Hands with the Devil! Kino Lorber Insider, is the plan still to release it on both DVD and Blu-ray?

No, we released Never Give a Sucker an Even Break and a couple of his Paramount silents a few years ago, released My Little Chickadee earlier this year and plan to release three more in 2020.
