I have seen some of the previews for Kingdom Hospital. And it seems to be similar to the short lived UPN show All Souls. I know KH was based on a show from Europe.

That would be KINGDOM by Lars Von Trier. I'd love to get the original show on DVD! Not so sure about the US version.

An american version of "The Kingdom", as interpreted by Stephen King... hmmm.... they have a good actor in Bruce Davison at least. Could be good. But I wonder if they'll be able to retain the odd and mysterious feeling of the original, which (for us swedes at least [IMG]) came in great part because of Ernst-Hugo Järegårds brilliant performance as Dr Helmer.

I'll be watching though, for sure.

PS. Rob, it's available on Region 2 DVD.

Is this something being shown on HBO or some other premium station? I have heard nothing about this on regular network television.

    Thanks,

    Deborah

With Angel being cancelled I am hoping this turns out to be something worth watching. I liked The Kingdom but never saw the second season.

I will be curious to see how SK changes Dr. Helmer's famous line "Danish scum!"

Michael, Thanks for the info. I realized as I read your post that I do not watch a single primetime show on ABC anymore, which accounts for my total ignorance concerning this show. I am going to have to give this a try -- it sounds intriguing.

I just saw an interview with Davison on another site about Kingdom Hospital. It was on TV Tome I think.

Rob: You want Lars Von Trier The Kingdom, both I & II on dvd? If you have a Region 2 capable player that can do PAL, here's a couple links to the best version around: in Danish, Dvd Film (price = 299kr, currently $50.93 US) and, in English, xploited cinema (price = $74.95 US).

Well, with it being King, I doubt if ABC would give it a quick yank if it doesn't do great right out of the blocks, and 13 weeks of weirdness is all right to me.

I've set this to a season Pass becasue I like the Dead Zone I'm willing to give this a chance even thou it's on ABC the network that never gives a new show more than 3 episodes to get going. Anyone here any buzz on this one?

I was just reading a exerpt from Matt Roush at TV guide.com and he said the original was much better.
I was telling my partner about this show because I might give it a chance and he said, Two Words: Rose Red.
He's got a point because that was a truely horrible movie with nothing happening for the first part and not much till the end of the second part.
I'd love to see the original since I have a non region dvd player but the price is a bit too expensive.

Well, you certainly have that right. Look what they did to "Kolchak: The Night Stalker."[IMG]

Well, that was a total waste of two hours. I won't be watching the rest.

Talking anteaters, cheezy voiceovers, dumb characters, and the SK trademark: evil characters baring fangs and hissing. [IMG]

Well, I agree. Two hours and not much happened. At least complete a plot thread..

ABC dropped Miracles (a fairly creepy show in the vein of The Exorcist and The X-Files with promise and a pretty solid cast) for this??

Michael Eisner really does need to go!

I was unimpressed by this. I doubt I will watch any more. Seemed like bad acting, no story line, cheesy effects.

Wow I'm surprised at all the negative reactions. Am I the only one who liked it?

I thought it was a good start to the series. Its totally different than anything else on TV right now which is why its interesting. As far as characters go, how developed were you expecting them to be in the first episode?
