From out of the blue comes news that Artisan are releasing a KING OF NEW YORK 2- disc S.E on 20th April.

    In both anamorphic 1.85 : 1 and full-screen versions, the film has a 5.1 soundtrack and the following features . . .

All-new Audio Commentaries and on-screen interviews
"New York 1990" Documentary: a look at gangster film and gangsta rap influences on the movie
"The Search for Abel Ferrara" Documentary: a portrait of the film's enigmatic director, Abel Ferrara
    TV Spots
    Scholly D Music Video
    Theatrical Trailer

A nice surprise ! [IMG] (To me anyway ) God, I'd cream myself if they did the same for BAD LIEUTENANT !

I'd LOVE to have a SE of "Ms. 45" (1981). Too bad Zoë Tamerlis is dead.

I'll second this! I'd also like a new edition of Bad Lieutenant.

This news for King of New York is great though, as I've long held off on this one.

I have been watching this one and I'm getting a kick out of watching the movie again (seen it several times on VHS), but the commentary is such a hoot (I have to listen to the whole thing because I only listened to parts of the Abel Ferrar track so far).

I was really happy to get this with a new anamorphic transfer, but the 5.1 track disappointed me a little. It just seemed kinda muted and lacked bass punch. Oh well, still happy with the SE![IMG]

I just read that Driller Killer will get a 2 disc limited edition release (10,000 copies) over DavisDVD with his early short films on disc two.

I have never seen Driller Killer, New Rose Hotel, R'XMAS, or Ms. 45, but I think Driller Killer might be an interesting one to buy on DVD (there has only been one Abel Ferrara movie that I hated- The Funeral (boring)).

Hopefully Ms. 45 gets re-issued. It's OOP, right? Well, DVDAF says it's OOP.

I've only seen Bad Lieutenant, which is so sick and depraved that I HAVE to see all of Ferrera's films now. I own Bad Lieutenant, and I plan on buying King of New York 2-Disc SE, Driller Killer 2-Disc SE, and Ms. 45. Not sure about'R Xmas, Body Snatchers, or The Addiction, though. Anyone ever see those?

I saw The Addiction a long time ago. I remember liking it a lot, and it being kinda weird. THe disk is cheap,so I've been thinking of picking it up.

Just rented this. An absurdly beautiful transfer, just great, and the real locations just glisten. Why do people buy ugly 6' framed posters of DePalma's 'Scarface' and not this movie? (I guess I know...but come on! This movie is way better than 'Scarface' --but maybe not 'Carlito's Way'.)

Anyway, I'd love to see an equally fine edition of 'Bad Lieutenant.'
