I guess it's good that Paramount is putting out a Blu-ray for those who have to have a disc, but I'm just as happy about picking up the 4K digitally.

I hope it's the first of more Elvis Paramount Blu-rays.

    Blue Hawaii.

The Elvis film that really needs a massive upgrade is Girls! Girls! Girls! The DVD is horrendous, a complete grain storm, one of the worst discs I've ever seen. If King Creole does come out on Blu-ray, I'll buy it immediately. It's a good film, directed by one of the masters and has Walter Matthau as the villain.

It's really great news that Paramount are putting out any older title on blu ray.

I agree with both points, The 35mm IB Tech prints of G!G!G! were so awesome (I had one). If they did it right, it would look fantastic.

Now I know what I’m getting my cousin Valerie for her birthday.

And one Blu-ray copy for me too!

Now if we could just do something about Loving You (1957) and get it out of whatever limbo it’s stuck in.

Also would like GI Blues (1960) and Spinout (1966).

Spinout is an MGM title and was put out on DVD by Warner some years back. I believe they still hold the rights so a blu ray would need to get released by them, not Paramount.

I have the DVD. I’ll check VUDU to see if it’s one of the Elvis titles making it to HD online.

Speaking of SPINOUT, here are some shots from a recent screening of an extremely rare 35mm dye-transfer Technicolor UK print. The domestic release was on the inferior Metrocolor stock.

    In a word: stunning!

Also interesting to note is the audio. MGM's sound mixers really pumped up the signal on the mono optical track to give the music more punch. As a result, dialogue suffered but the songs sound great!

Holy cow. I'm drooling. I had a 35mm Metrocolor print with decent color but, man, IB Tech!

Since it’s taking you so long to check, I did it for you. There is no HD master of Spinout available anywhere. But until a couple of weeks ago there wasn’t an HD master of King Creole either, so there’s hope that it might happen.

Now, if we could just get Paramount to also give us Blue Hawaii, Roman Holiday, The Carpetbaggers, The Greatest Show on Earth, Ordinary People, etc. et al.

King Creole was not shot in VV. It's standard 4-perf 35mm.

The OCN is gone and went missing in the 60's or 70's when Hal Wallis still had rights. This is from the 35mm fine grain master positive.
