I don't recall bleeping everytime Uma's name is mentioned in movie.

Why have they done it on the DVD?

    thanks

Maybe some foreign prints weren't beeped? But Quentin intended (and it was in the theater) beeped.

Although her name was beeped by Tarantino for stylistic reasons (and it is revealed in Vo. 2), it does actually appear in Vol. 1 for a split-second. When she buys the plane ticket to Japan, there is a quick shot of the ticket-if you freeze it, you can read her name at the top.

Of course, only an obsessive would bother to look for it and I am sure that no such people exist at this site.

I've been waiting forever for this film on DVD and really wanted to watch it Tuesday night after work, but had to book an ISF calibration in instead.

Now I'll have to wait for Wednesday...what's one more day...??

    AAAhhhhhh! Mike

    Our print didn't have bleeping.
Weather was bad last week, so business was good.

    Otherwise pretty dandy.

Hope you all had a blessed Easter.

    Back to work today.

is beeped. It is beeped shortly thereafter when Green says it again. Her first name is beeped a third time when O-Ren Ishii says it on the balcony at the House of the Blue Leaves. I don't want to get into another "I saw 'To Be Continued...' at the end of 'Back to the Future' when I saw it theatrically in 1985" arguement, I'm just pretty sure you probably didn't notice.

I'd forgotten about those beeps until now. I remember when I saw it in the theater, I thought someone was about to be paged on the PA system. More like a boooop instead of a beep or a bleep, if I recall correctly?

It was definitely in the theatrical version, as well as the original screenplay. Tarantino make a specific point to bleep out her name early on so that it would be revealed later in the film (now part 2.)

And do the lines between O-Ren Ishii and Uma have anything to do with her name?

Silly Rabbit. Trix are for Kids?

I'd say there's a connection but I'm definitely reaching with this one:

    Her real name is
    Beatrix Kiddo

so if you analyze the aforementioned exchange
"silly rabbit": Beatrix Potter wrote "Peter Rabbit"

    and
"Trix are for kids": Kiddo is her last name

I told you it was a stretch. [IMG]
