Wow, Warner Archive are really cranking them out, which is a really good thing! Even us old film fans don't like everything, I'll pass on the two Hitchcock's & have this & The Big Sleep.

Blind purchase recommendation on those two Bogie films, Billy?

I think I saw THE BIG SLEEP many years ago as I have the Bogart box set on DVD.

Oh yes! Both films were on the telly a lot when I was growing up. I still think the best Philip Marlowe film is Murder My Sweet, but The Big Sleep is a must own. It was an odd choice to film that book in those days, as they had to leave out (or play down) the pornography, homosexual bookshop owners (using the bookshop as a cover for selling porn) & drug taking, but then Howard Hawks always liked scenes that worked rather than the big picture, & lots of great scenes & Bogart & Bacall & all underlined with a superb Max Steiner score, & then there's the fact that it's going to look great. Key Largo (which I haven't seen for years) I remember it as a very interior film, with a great turn by Edward G Robinson, & another great score by Max Steiner. I'd started to think that forties b/w movies stood no chance on Blu-ray, but there's quite a few out now.

Absolutely yes on Key Largo, which is my favorite Bogart film (with many close seconds).

Interesting how opinions differ as I believe the opposite.
Same here! Even though I like Key Largo, I can watch The Big Sleep once a month. It's more of an enjoyable film experience for me.

Definitely recommended as blind purchases, Ron. You can never go wrong with Bogart & Bacall! The Big Sleep is a convoluted story line (especially the U.S. release), but those two are still great on the screen together. As for Key Largo, Edward G. Robinson gets thrown into the mix, too, which adds to the fun. I think you'll enjoy both films. I will definitely be upgrading my DVD copies.

Pre Ordered along with The Big Sleep right away before the prices go up as I get the feeling they will do.

I think the current $21.99 is list price, so I expect the price to go down on these. I am holding off until they do.

Excellent start to the New Year! Ordered both "Key Largo" and "The Big Sleep" both of which are gems with "Key Largo" probably being my favorite Bogart movie among all of the many great movies he made.

Sold!! One of Bogart's great films IMO and I hope WB did a great job on the transfer. I've got say though, just what in the HELL is up with that lousy cover art??? It looks like a 10 year old did it with Paint. Terrible.

Is that the same art from The Bogart Collection DVD?

I'm surprised The Archive didn't go with this:
