It's not.. bad.. but has a lot of room for improvement. Reminds me a lot of a spin on Joan of Arcadia.

We'll see.

Which is probably a big part of why I loved it. Twelve years later, and I still mourn over that cancellation. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the appeal of this show for Jason Ritter was getting to delve back into something that felt unfinished; he was great as Joan's paraplegic brother on that show, and he more or less single-handedly holds this show together.

I do wish they'd stuck with the original title, "The Gospel of Kevin". I thought it was a lot stronger than the current title.

Chloe East was terrific as Kevin's niece, and the show's narrator. Grieving and loss is a hard thing for child actors to pull off, because most of them don't have the requisite life experience to draw from, but I thought she nailed it.

The creators of this show, Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, also created "Reaper". That show also started with a deceptively simple premise and slowly unveiled an intricate, theologically-grounded and well-thought out mythology. So I bet there's a lot more going on here than Yvette revealed to Kevin.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher is doing her best Amy Adams here, and it totally works. She spent six seasons toiling away in the "Reba" salt mines, so comedic timing is second nature to her. But she also handles the dramatic stuff with just the right about of lightness and feeling.

J. August Richards's police officer character felt underdeveloped, but it's J. August Richards so I'm sure we've got great stuff coming.

Kimberly Hebert Gregory did a good job as Yvette, but I think it was a mistake to give Kevin a guardian angel. Better to hand Kevin this mission and make him figure it out for himself.

After two episodes, I'm really liking it. I think the Yvette character is great, just that nice little twist on reality.

Ritter is doing very well so far, I hope it continues for a few years.

The truck stunt was amazing, but I don't believe anything anymore, probably pure CGI for most of it.

Ok. This show is a winner for me; it is campy, ridiculous at times, but it's good natured fun. I'm not exactly sure how long they can go without ever finding one of the righteous, but the week after week small things they do accomplish are pretty entertaining.
