OK, so far I am happy with the unit, much more to my liking than the Onkyo. However, I must have something hooked up wrong or I am screwing up the settings.
I just watched Rock Star. Thought that would be a good DVD to test the surround sound. It is supposed to be recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1.
I could not get Dolby Digital turned on for the life of me. I ended up watching it in Pro Logic II - Movie mode.
However, no matter what setting I used, I had hardly any sound coming out of my surround sound speakers. All the sound was up front in the two fronts and the center channel. Even during the live concert sequences, all the crowd noise was up front (at least 95% of it). I had to put my ear right next to the surround speakers to confirm they were even playing at all.
Guess I need to play some more.
