    No! Look at the power specs, it is 80watts x 5 into 6ohms! not 8! I would suggest an Onkyo 797 or Denon 3802, they are MUCH better than Kenwood Sovereign. The soudn in stereo and surround will be much better, and besides, the 5090 is only a 5ch amp, I would think that in these days, you would want somethign with at least 6 ch for that price on a receiver. Just my opinion, but really 797 or 3802.

    Thanks for your reply. I did some more research...and decided to stick with my original plan: Getting the Denon 3802 - which I just did.

    I will have it Monday or Tuesday. It is out pf stock right now - but a truck is due in. Unless I change my mind, again.

    Sometimes things are not as simple as they seem.

    According to tests of Kenwood receivers in Sound and Vision and Home Theater magazine, the Kenwood Sovereign receivers have met or exceeded their power ratings.

    I wish I could say the same about some of the other brands out there...
