Basically sounds like a money issue.
POTC 2 & 3 ?
*laugh* Pirates of the Carribean, not Passion of the Christ 2 & 3
i figured thats what it was. and found that out by going to the link.
seems it is just easy enough to post the full title in the header then abreviate in the post.
i didnt know there were plans for 3 potc's
or that keith was going to be in them.
what was he going to do be depp's dad?
Sorry, but I assumed most people here knew what film Keith Richards was attached to...
Well, if Johnny is serious about paying him homage and REALLY wants Keith in the PotC, then he'd better turn on the charm, that's for sure.
P.S. Chris, could you just IMAGINE what someone would try to come up with for a Passion of the Christ sequel?
Visions of Gandhi II from Weird Al's movie, UHF are floating around in my head. "He's back, and this time... he's mad! No more Mr. Passive Resistance, he's gonna kick some butt!"
I had no idea he was supposed to be in them and actually would prefer he not be.
So maybe it's all worked out!
it could be just as entertaining if they took it to the other extreme, and had his father be a priest or something
lol an admin changed the title.
Why don't they just snip clips from "Hail, Hail Rock & Roll" ???? Can't imagine Keith could be any less coherent today.... Perhaps they could get Chuck Berry to play the admiral of the British Navy to add further fireworks !!!
It looks like Richards might be in the movie after all:
When Johnny Depp was on the Tonight Show about a month ago promoting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, he told Jay Leno that it was pretty much a shoe-in that Keith Richards would be in at least one of the movies. Not sure if its true, but that's what he said.
There was a trailer for "Passion of the Christ 2" on a recent episode of Family Guy. They actually got the guy who narrates movie trailers to narrate this one too. (I don't know that guy's name, and of course it's impossible to read the credits on TV shows these days.)
KR is definitely not in "POTC: Dead Man's Chest", but they're still holding out hope that he'll make it into the 3rd film.
Starring Jesus and Chris Tucker. It was priceless!
How freaking unoriginal is it to throw in a guy whose performance inspired the main protagonist? That's about as dumb casting as it gets in Hollywood. Jeez, I wish some of those Hollywood execs would buy some brains and creativity with all of that box office gold.
i tthink it's great casting.
who else would be a good choice for his father other then the actual person who was the inspiration?
it's action comedy and is meant to be fun, so have fun with the choice.
only gonna be in the third one anyway it seems.
probably not a big role either.
I prefer creative casting, not the obvious stuff like what they've done here. Get someone you WOULDN'T expect. Just shows a lack of creative thinking. It probably took all of two seconds for something like that to get thrown on the table.
And it's going to be hard not to simply think of this as a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge look at how cute we are" kind of thing when the near skeletal appearance of Richards haunts the screen.
Yes, they should cast Richard Simmons as his father. Come on this would be a riot. I dont think its unoriginal at all.
It defeats the novelty of Depp's inspired performance when you have the man that inspired it on screen, if you ask me. Plus, it's gonna be a "look, it's Keith Richards!" moment when he appears.
