Hi,

I have been doing some speaker hunting and have narrowed down to the list below for fronts. I would like to get your opinions on the following:

KEF IQ5 (179.99 each)
Polk Audio RTi8 (149.99 each)
Infinity Primus P362BK (195.00 each)
Polk T90s (149.99 each)

If anyone does own a pair of any of these, would appreciate your input and if you have any other suggestion please feel free to reply.

My budget is 200 bucks a piece. I own a Onkyo SR304 to which these will be connected. Let me know if these speakers will go with the receiver?

These will be my first pair of floor standing speakers. I do plan on buying a subwoofer and rears some time later. Primary use is going to be movies followed by music (Trance, Jazz, Indian Classical, Rock)

Thanks
Anand

I owned the RTi8's a couple of years ago and even though they are a very good mass market speaker I thought they were very bright with a some-what harsh sounding mid-range. Some people like this type of sound but I didn't. Too me, a bright sound isn't anywhere near as much of a distraction for movies as it is for music. Might even be a benefit. I did think they were a very "musical" speaker, though. Also, even though they have dual 6" drivers, the bass response is limited. This isn't an issue if you use a subwoofer. At $149 each they are a pretty good value.

Build quality was quite good, only let down by a flimsy grill (but quite attractive). The black wood veneer was really well done with a rich textured look and feel about them. But I didn't care at all for the cherry model.

The CSi5 and CSi3 centers are still available here and there as are the RTi4 and 6 bookshelves and FXi3 and 5 surrounds should you want to expand to a 5/7.1 system.

The Primus 362's are often on sale at Fry's for $128 each, and once last year for $99. I own Infinity Beta 20's and really like their warm and fuzzy sound. I'm betting the 362's aren't near as bright as the RTi8's.

Afraid I don't know anything at all about the KEF's or Polk T90's.
