Well, this episode got dark in spots, but overall a good episode, enjoyed the Marshall Sisco subplot and how he turned the tables on the woman who hired him to take blackmail photos of situations she created. I don't blame the female cop for hitting on Karen... :) (IIRC, the female cop played Nikki on the Drew Carey show a few season ago).

This may be my favorite episode yet. It had the right mixture of humor and danger, especially with that nasty execution of the wholly innocent ex-boyfriend.
Really a shame that ABC is still holding out on the ultimate fate of this show.

I enjoyed Karen putting the screws on the guy in the poker hand, her devious smile at the end ("you didn't pay to see it") was endearing.

When the police sergeant was hitting on Karen there at the end, I had my hopes up but, alas, no. :frowning:

Karen's been shown to be pretty much hetero, so it might have been a departure for her to dabble on the other side of the fence there.

This show has grown on me and I enjoy it more every week. Robert Forrester is a great actor and I am glad he is in this series. He really has that laid back, Jim Rockford quality to his character.

While I haven't really been chipping in on the weekly threads for this show as, IMO, there just aren't that many deep plot points to discuss, it's just a blast to watch. I've still managed to catch every episode so far, and the show definately doesn't disappoint. As an Elmore Leonard fan (reading Rum Punch, a.k.a Jackie Brown now), they've really managed to get that whole comedy/drama vibe going.

The scenes with Robert Forster are a real high point in the show, just a great actor.

One question though, I noticed they didn't have a "coming up next week on an all new Karen Sisco." after this episode, was that the end of the first season?

HA! I kept thinking that cop was really hot, and didn't see that coming until they were eating together and I thought yep, here it comes. It just fit in with the theme of the show. Poor Karen. No luck.

The gay hitmen were hilarious, and I too loved the line "you didn't pay to see." There is always at least one great line to take away from each episode. Even my mother in law who was over last night enjoyed this and commented that it was very on the mark as far as capturing Elmore Leonard's style.

I concur! One of the nice things about being based in Miami - no thick, heavy coats for Karen!

I believe the Grandma Garb was a jacket, based on her persuasion of the fugitives ex-wife - giving her the choice between having having lots of guys with "U.S. Marshal" on the jacket or one woman with nothing on the jacket.

That totally sucks! So I assume Law & Order is kicking its butt?

Well, we can always hope for a DVD set or a smart network (oxymoron?) to pick it up.

Totally. L&O has already knocked off that new David E. Kelley show on CBS (Brotherhood of whereever).

I'm a big L&O fan, but the show isn't what it used to be. I've been recording both, but I haven't even watched this week's L&O yet. Karen (and The O.C.) are much better shows on Wednesday, and those are the ones I watched first.

I hope they make good on their promise to bring it back, and pick a decent hour where it has a chance.

I hope the show returns after (February) sweeps. I finally saw Wednesday's episode this weekend. I think the fact that Jonathan Slavin is the same actor who played "Byron" in "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" made the torture/murder of Carey even more disturbing for me.

Good episode, though.

What a disappointment!!! I can only hope it winds up on DVD or gets picked up by someone else. Anyone able to predict the odds of this happening?
