I have the jvc-xv-s65gd dvd player and can't seem to get it to resume to the same spot in the dvd when I pause. If I don't turn the power off and hit play it works fine, but if I turn the power off and return the next day (or in 30 seconds), the dvd starts at the beginning again. The manual says it should resume if I hit play but it doesn't. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

When you power down, it shouldn't resume play. When you power down, you flush all the information out of the system.

This is similar to shutting down your computer. When you reboot, you lose the state of the desktop as well.

Hit [Stop] and leave it alone and you'll be fine. The power draw is minimal anyway.

On my old 501BK, if I turn off the DVD player while it is playing the resume light will come on. Then, to restart where I left off, I hit the resume button. The player will turn on and start where I left off. Also, If I forget to use the resume button and turn the player on, then I quickly hit then stop button then the resume button.

Hope this helps.

John,

Thanks for the quick reply. What you say makes complete sense and a very simple solution. My wife will be very happy about not having to find her place in the movie as she is running on the treadmill. I will try it tonight when I get home but can't imagine it won't work.

As an aside, the manual says that when you use the pause button that it will save the information even if you turn the power off. Do other dvd players allow you to save your place or bookmark a spot on the dvd and save it until the next viewing even if you take the dvd out of the player or turn off the power?

Again, thanks for your help.

James,

I've always used the [Stop] Button for long term placeholding, never [Pause] followed by power off.

I was just doing this last night with my XV-S75. I had Avia in the player and wanted to come right back to the sub low-freq sweep. You must use the [STOP], then turn the power off. When you're ready to resume DO NOT turn the DVD player power on, just push [PLAY] on either the remote or the front of the unit. The player will come on and instantly start where you stopped it.
