those conclusions i came out were based on my years of observations and studying of specs. certainly there will be slight twists and turns should panel makers make the choice to do odd size or aspect ratio productions. There isn’t a 100”. Yet. Which is why I said “eventually”.
for example, SHARP was the only panel maker to produce panels size end with "Zeros", way before they go along with the mainstream and then adopt those mainstream sizes that lead to the "demise" of their own factory. back then before 50inch came along, the "biggest" mid-size was 50". SHARP follows up the rest with 60", 70", 80", 90" and not to forget 120" that breaks the 100" barrier for Liquid Crystal Display Panels.
SHARP produced panels were mostly used to their own products, sold in limited volume in the East part of the world, hence there were labels pasted on the TV products with "Panel Made In Japan".
out of the mentioned sizes, eventually only 50" gets more common as 49" had stopped produce in large volumes from different panel makers. 70" can be still seen from PHILIPS, but low in offering to other markets. some Taiwanese brands still have 70" makes, but the panel may not be SHARP made.
initially i thought OLED will have it's own "Panel Identity" base on size numbers such that consumers will be able to quickly identify what they're eyeing upon. such as 55", 66", 77", 88", 99" and perhaps 111". however, 99" and 66" were not adopted, i doubt there will be 111" in the roadmap... until the Chinese makers CSOT and BoE as well as HKC jumps in with their IJOP-Ink Jetprinting OLED Panel in the end of this year...
